Hi, I'm Dana.
My friends and colleagues call me “The Language Professional” because of my love of the joy, culture and magic that comes from the experience of ALL languages. I am the proud founder and lead consultant for UpRiver Education, an education consulting firm that partners with schools, districts and state agencies in their mission to maximize outcomes for one million multilingual learners. Inclusive and asset-based approaches to learning and growth are at the heart of my work. My presentation style is known for generating ideas and aha’s through story, metaphor and creative connections! During my two decades in education, I have served as an ESL/bilingual teacher, instructional coach and district-level administrator, and I co-authored the text Teaching English Language Learners: Content and Language in Secondary Classrooms.
